Dislike the New Facebook? Here's How to Go Back - Freebie Spot

Dislike the New Facebook? Here's How to Go Back - Freebie Spot
Here is a great blog post for those unhappy with new Facebook changes & how to fix it. I don't think I mind the changes (perhaps I like them but I'm not sure yet)...

"Facebook recently changed the news feed altering how you see your friends’ activity as well as the activity of the pages you like. Because of these changes, you (and I!) are missing out on a lot of Facebook updates from both friends and pages.

I’ve received several emails from my Facebook fans who have stated that they are not seeing my Facebook updates. And trust me, I’ve noticed it too! Freebie Spot traffic has literally been cut in half since the new Facebook layout went live. Bummer. So if you’re not seeing updates from Freebie Spot (or any other page for that matter) on Facebook, here is how to fix it.

Create a List

In order to see all updates from Freebie Spot, you will need to create a “List”. For simplicity, I suggest calling it “Freebie Spot”.
  1. Visit Facebook and click “Home” in the upper right corner of your screen.
  2. On the left side of page, click the word “Lists” (you may have to click the “More” link to see it) and then click the “Create List” button.
  3. Give your list a name (I suggest calling it “Freebie Spot”) and click “Create list”.
  4. While in the “Freebie Spot” list, click the “Add friends” link (it might take a few seconds to load).
  5. Click the “Friends” button in the upper, left of the window and then click “Pages”.
  6. Type in “Freebie Spot” in the box on the right and once you see the Freebie Spot Facebook page, click the image to place a check mark and then click “Done”.
  7. You will now be taken to your Freebie Spot list page and you will see my updates.
  8. To make sure you see everything I post, click the “Manage List” in the upper right corner, then click “Choose Update Types” and make sure all 6 “updates to show” are checked.
  9. Finally, click the “Lists” link on the left hand side again, click the little pencil to the left of “Freebie Spot”, and click “Add to Favorites”. Just click the “Freebie Spot” link in your favorites and you will see all of my posts.
So now, instead of only seeing top stories as determined by Facebook, you’ll never miss a Freebie Spot update. Yay! Keep in mind, you can use this same method but call the list something like “Everyone”, and then add all of your friends and pages to the list. You will then have an all-inclusive list with updates displaying like they used to.

Don’t Want to Go Through All That?

If the above steps seem like too much work to you, then there is an alternative. Just tell Facebook what you want to display as “Top News.” Find a story in your news feed from Freebie Spot (which I had a hard time with this and made an update on my page just to see it!). Hover over the top, right-hand corner of the update to display the arrow. Click the arrow to display the drop down box and then click “Mark as top story.” This is supposed to tell Facebook what you like and they will try to display more stories like it. There are no guarantees for this as I’m not even sure it works. :(

Still Not Happy?

If you’re still not happy (don’t worry, I’m not either), then share your feedback with Facebook. Let them know they are ruining your Facebook experience and to put things back the way they were!"
